2023年度奨学生
The situation surrounding Japan and the world is changing dramatically and there is an even greater need to raise global citizens who will benefit all society. Established in 1949 as a travel grant program to assist students who had already been invited to study at universities abroad but lacked the means to get there, CWAJ has awarded scholarships annually since 1972. Adding to the 400 Travel Grantees, there are now a total of 870 CWAJ scholars from 49 different nations who come from an amazing array of diverse backgrounds and represent many different fields of study. Many of these scholars have achieved their dreams and become leaders in various fields.
CWAJ would not have been able to fulfill its core mission of offering scholarships for more than 70 years without the very generous support of donors, artists and friends. This year we are especially grateful to Cartier Japan for fully funding a Graduate Scholarship for Japanese Women to Study Abroad to a woman who has potential to contribute to society through entrepreneurship and business. We also thank the Japan Foundation for supporting the CWAJ Cultural Exchange Graduate Scholarship for Japanese Women to Study Abroad and the CWAJ Graduate Scholarship for Non-Japanese Women to Study in Japan.

日本及び世界を取り巻く状況は劇的に変化し、社会に貢献するグロー バルな市民を育てる必要性は依然より増してきました。 1949年の創 設当初は、米国の大学から入学を許可されながらも当時の為替事情 等で渡航費用が用意できない学生を海外渡航費援助制度という形で 支援していましたが、その後1972年から現在のCWAJ奨学金プログ ラ ム を 発 足 さ せ 毎 年 続 け て ま い りまし た 。 C W A J か ら 支 援 を 受 け た 奨 学生達は、今では述べ49か国、総勢870名を超え、様々な分野です ぐれたキャリアを積み、公共政策、教育、人権、医療研究、メディア、 環境科学などの最前線でリーダーとして活躍しています。
近年女性の社会での活躍が益々期待されていますが、今年は Cartier Japanと共同で新たにCWAJ Cartier奨学金を創設し、 起 業 家 精 神を持ちビジネスを通して社 会に貢 献 する女 性 の 海 外 留 学を支援しています。この場を借りて多大なご寄付をいただきました Cartier Japanへ心から感謝を申し上げます。またCWAJ海外留学 文化交流大学院女子奨学金と外国人留学生文化交流大学院女子奨 学金へのご支援をただいている国際交流基金へも御礼申し上げます。
