CWAJ was founded in 1949 by a small group of Japanese and American women in Tokyo to raise travel funds for Japanese students to study in the USA. From these modest beginnings, CWAJ has grown into a dynamic organization. The Print Show, in particular, has become a vital pillar of our mission, thanks to the generous support and collaboration of the printmaking community. Proceeds from print sales directly fund the CWAJ scholarship and grant programs. To date, with additional contributions from donors, we have awarded scholarships, grants, and awards to more than 900 promising students and artists. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the Young Printmaker Award, given to outstanding printmaking students, and the 5th year of the Loro Piana Woman Artist Award, established to encourage and support female printmakers.
