The 70th
CWAJ Print Show
Coming in 2027
Planning is well underway for next year’s 70th CWAJ Print Show. Since 1956 our annual show, created by dedicated women volunteers, has supported and documented the development of post-war Japanese prints for audiences in Japan and beyond. This acclaimed open-call exhibition and sale introduces the latest contemporary Japanese prints. For seven decades, proceeds have funded CWAJ scholarships and education programs.
2027年に開催される第70回CWAJ現代版画展に向け、準備が着々と進んでいます。1956年に始まった本展は、熱意ある女性ボランティアによって運営され、戦後日本の版画の発展を支え、その歩みを記録するとともに、日本国内外の皆さまに紹介してきました。高い評価を受けている公募形式の本展では、現代日本版画の最新作を展示・販売します。70年にわたり、本展の収益はCWAJの奨学金制度や教育プログラムの支援に活用されてきました。

The 70th CWAJ Print Show
The 70th Show will have two components.
“The 70th CWAJ Print Show Commemorative Grand Prize Exhibition” will be a public competition featuring 70 works selected by a jury. The Grand Prize winner will receive ¥700,000, while three Excellence Award winners will each receive ¥50,000. For more information please click here.
The second, “Koki: A 70 year Legacy, The 70th CWAJ Exhibition of Contemporary Japanese Prints”, will be a retrospective, showcasing valuable works by significant artists who have exhibited with CWAJ over the past 70 years.

Artist-in-Residence Program
Following a long tradition of CWAJ supporting printmakers, we have opened applications for a 2027 artist-in-residence placement for a Japanese artist in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. For more information click here.
アーティスト・イン・レジデンス

Digital Archive Project
Responding to increasing requests from researchers, a digital Print Show archive is being created. The initial task will be to digitize all 70 Print Show catalogues. The early catalogues are frail and rare; this work will secure them for future generations. The Tokyo Club recently awarded CWAJ a ¥2,000,000 grant to support this project.
デジタルアーカイブ・プロジェクト
研究者からの要望の高まりを受け、現在、「版画展（Print Show）」のデジタルアーカイブ作成が進められています。まずは、これまでに発行された全70冊の版画展カタログをデジタル化する作業から着手します。初期のカタログは傷みやすく希少な資料であるため、この作業はそれらを次世代へと確実に残すための重要な取り組みとなります。このたび、本プロジェクトを支援するため、東京倶楽部よりCWAJへ200万円の助成金が授与されました。

Two-million-yen grant awarded to CWAJ by The Tokyo Club

CWAJ has been awarded a 2-million-yen grant by The Tokyo Club. This money will help fund the creation of a digital archive that will contain copies of all CWAJ Print Show catalogues.
A related educational symposium to launch the archive, featuring both Japanese and international print specialists, will be held around the time of the 70th Print Show next year. Extensive research on the criteria to be used for an international-standard archive and the process to create it has already been completed, and the huge task of scanning catalogues will start immediately.
The digital archive is a means of preserving, for the next generation, the record of seventy years of CWAJ Print Shows and the influence they have had on the world of Japanese printmaking. Our special thanks go to The Tokyo Club for this generous grant for supporting this important initiative.
東京倶楽部よりCWAJに200万円の助成金が交付されました。この助成金は、これまでに発行されたすべてのCWAJ現代版画展カタログを収録するデジタルアーカイブの構築に活用されます。
アーカイブの完成に合わせ、日本および海外の版画専門家を招いた関連教育シンポジウムを、来年の第70回CWAJ現代版画展の開催時期に予定しております。国際基準に沿ったアーカイブの要件と作成方法に関する詳細な調査も着々と進行しており、膨大なカタログのスキャン作業をまもなく開始する予定です。
このデジタルアーカイブは、70年にわたるCWAJ版画展の記録と版画界に及ぼしてきた影響とを未来に残すものです。この重要な取り組みを可能にしてくださった東京倶楽部に、心より感謝申し上げます。
