2023 Young Printmaker Award Recipient
Young Printmaker Award recipients have an opportunity to exhibit a new print three years after receiving the Award. The CWAJ Young Printmaker Award is in its 22nd year and many of the past recipients are flourishing in the printmaking world, a testimony to the importance of this award to inspire young artists.
2023年度ヤング・プリントメーカー賞受賞者
受賞者には賞金に加えて、その年のCWAJ現代版画展で受賞作品を展示し、さらに３年後の版画展でも新作を発表する機会が与えられます。20年目を迎えました。これまでの受賞者の多くが、新進版画家として着実に歩を進めています。

Since receiving the YPA award, I have continued to create art with the theme of “visualizing emotions that cannot be put into words.” Currently, I am juggling work and creative work, and I often feel the difficulty of this, but through my experience working in society, my perspective and interests have broadened considerably. I feel that the way I see things has changed through work, and that I have become more attentive to society, which is gradually influencing my work. The underlying theme remains the same, but the contours of my expression are constantly being updated due to changes in my environment and position. Centering on the perspective on emotions that I have always cherished, I am incorporating new viewpoints born from my engagement with society and exploring forms of expression that are possible only in the present moment.

YPA受賞から現在まで、一貫して「言葉にできない感情を視覚化すること」をテーマに制作を続けています。現在は仕事と制作を両立する日々で、その難しさを実感することも多いですが、社会の中で働く経験を通して、自身の視野や関心は以前よりも大きく広がりました。仕事をすることで見える景色が変わり、より社会へ目を向けるようになったことが、作品にも少しずつ影響を与えていると感じています。根底にあるテーマは変わりませんが、環境や立場の変化によって表現の輪郭も更新され続けています。これまで大切にしてきた感情への眼差しを軸にしながら、社会との関わりの中で生まれる新たな視点を取り込み、現在だからこそできる表現を模索しています。
